Gilad crowns the Nakuahidi release with a powerful performance at Koroga Festival

Just two days after launching the video to what critics describe as his most outstanding record up until now, Gilad took to the stage to celebrate this with a memorable performance at the 14th edition of Koroga Festival on Sunday.

Together with Superband, Gilad started off the show with unreleased singles, calling up his son to join him in performing another not yet released song, Mapenzi, before proceeding to wow the audience with his other hits. Members of Superband too took turns to wow the crowd with their exemplary skills on keyboard, guitars, Saxophone and drums as well as vocals. Gilad’s son, Omer Millo quickly attracted the crowds’ attention with his guitar skills.

At just 17 years, Omer’s phenomenal skills put him on the same stage with his father, playing alongside some of the best instrumentalists that make up Superband.

Towards the end, Gilad gave the revelers another treat when he invited on stage his Nakuahidi collaborator, Dela, to a roaring applause from the audience. They performed the song live for the first time since launching its video as the crowd sand along.

Yet, it was Sema Milele that still proved to be the crowds’ favorite as they joined him in singing along, word for word as his set came to an end. The love ballad which has since become the unofficial wedding song across the country was a perfect pick for the shows closure. Kenyan music indeed got well represented.

The 14th edition of Koroga festival was an extended celebration of Capital FM’s 20 year anniversary since the station hit the airwaves. It saw the coming together of Cameroon legend Sam Fan Thomas, South African house music maestro Oskido and Gilad as the Kenyan representative.
