Tanzania think Nuclear Power... 2007/10/21 20:52
I came across this and(jaw-dropping) I thought I could share my thoughts. I don't know the coordinates, but I am sure one of the axis is evil! Can we manage such an endeavor? bonyeza hapa http://www.ippmedia.com/ipp/observer/2007/10/21/100891.html

??? Axis of evil ... who

* I think, physicist are correct. They are correct in urging our politicians to think long term, longer than five election years. They are correct in urging switch to nuclear power. In today's and tomorrow's world, such an endeavour will surely solve our power issues, increase production, and place us on an important status economic wise and otherwise. Hydro-electrical endeavours and existing plants don't seem to be developed faster anyway, and present ones don't meet demand. What of global warming, should we still put 'stock' in hydro supply availability 50 years from today?

I concur with you! The conotation axis of evil, was given to countries that have Nuclear technology and my worry here is, we could get branded and the consequences would not favour our peaceful country neither our peacful Intetions...And I spoke to one patriot before he passed away who told me we could have had a big Hydro power plant in the south of the country that could have supplied power to our nation and our neighbors. Don't really know what transpired or who was to blame then-but I think if this was feasible, then we should see if it can be done under one of the economic umbrellas of the south saharan countries.

* Notice that not all countries possessing nuclear capabilities were labelled 'axis of evil'. Enuff said, you can surmise the reasons. My only worry will be our mamaland becoming unto tug of war between western, middle east, and far east ideologies... and then face unnecessary consequences of whatever choice we fall into.

* As for that hydro power project you referred to ... possibly, same ole same ... we think, sometimes we pay experts to do feasibility studies, then we procrastinate or can't / won't meet demands of whoever wants to help. Often, offers to help launch these kinds of projects, comes with masharti which ain't good for us ... in such cases, heck! let leaders refuse. Otherwise, I won't surprise at all if rushwa eats away the capital resources. Could be another case of leaders not thinking long-term beyond their tenure.
