Have you ever read a book where you could simply picture everything in your mind, what the characters looked like, how they sounded, all of that and more? This usually only happens when I read something either incredibly well written or with very simple descriptions. A week ago I picked up a book called KUSADIKIKA by USTADH SHAABAN ROBERT , a pleasant book, nothing terribly intellectual or controversial compared to what I usually read. I guess it was the LARGE AND BOLDED WORDS on the cover that appeared to me, reminded me of a younger sOUL brother used to hate books with no PICTS on TOP with his black kipilipili used to think -ve abut those kinds of books.... See, I do judge a book by its cover. If it doesn’t captivate me, I won’t really be committed to reading it. Silly, isn’t it? Superficial, yes. Though, I think it’s because the main character is an imaginable and fatasized with outher . The story is set in 1986s if am not mistaken and the way the story is written, even with its minimal detail, is still easy to visualize. I’m not sure if anyone else does this, but when you read about a particular character, do they ever take on the form of someone you know, or perhaps an actor from a film? That’s how it works for me. Sometimes I might be reading something and I’ll think MY GOD! This would make such a great movie! For example, I felt the same when I was reading HIBA YA WIVU writen by zainab lweno ! its came a time IHUCHA alipoambiwa apeleke fedha kule bndeni kwa watu walio mteka mke wake... and this book MKIMBIZI nilisoma when whn nilipokuwa TZ its a nice story.. ohhh ye now i do remember hear on my table iam havin this book from school library ( Photographing Fairies by Steve Szilagyi, a pleasant book also..
I’m trying to waste time and not do my assignment, I’ll explain the plot so far. Mr Castle, the photographer, comes across rare and somewhat genuine photographs of fairies. He takes these to Arthur Conan Doyle (who wrote Sherlock Holmes) and makes a business deal with him to travel and search for more photographs of fairies so that they can make the phenomenon public. The photographer gets robbed and sidetracked on a train and ends up meeting a pretty minister’s wife from a small village in the country. Ironically he goes with her to the village and finds himself in the place where the original fairy pictures came from. I know that isn’t a very good plot overview, but what interests me the most is his somewhat flirty relationship with the ministers wife (I’m sure she wants him) and the village slut who makes it quite clear that she wants him. Now that I’m half way through, I’ve sort of “cast” which actors should play which characters.
mmhh i have to my assingment tchao..
